DiCE Takes on the Nordics

Taking place, the morning after the 6th Nordic Conference on Sustainable Healthcare conference, our expert team delivered an interactive annual event on the future of circular healthcare.

Gathering  30 professionals from across Europe, with the guidance of Thomas Mørch, Advisory Board Member and CEO of Zirq Solutions, our partners stepped on stage to share project results and foster discussions with the audience.

  • Tamara Hoveling from TU Delft elaborated on circular strategies (so called R-strategies) enabling circularity in design while highlighting results from her research on the current state of play.
  • Daniel Millet, Chief Business Developer and Co-Founder of GRIN did not only give an interesting presentation on smart collection techniques but drove all the way from Oslo with GRIN’s smart bin, weighing around 80 kg. Needles to say, his display quickly became the highlight of the event!
  • Adrien Specker, Project Officer at the World Resources Forum talked about care pathways in environmental impact assessment of electronic healthcare devices with the practical case example of a surgical stapler (endocutter, covered by DiCE) and the importance of system level thinking.
  • Camille Rønn, PhD Fellow at IT University of Copenhagen and Associate Scientist at Johnson & Johnson briefed the audience on circular business models and emphasized that stakeholders such as manufacturers, third parties, and customers have not been able to agree on where the responsibility lies so far but there are many solutions that may be implemented.
  • Our seasoned speakers, René Luigies, Program Director at Games for Health Europe and Sascha Vermeylen, Panel Manager at LiCalab, presented the results of the co-creations sessions to date including potential motivational strategies.

In true DiCE spirit, the event did not only consist of presentations and ad-hoc questions but a live co-creation session where participants were motivated to step into different stakeholders’ roles. They were asked to think either as part of hospital management, put themselves in the shoes of nurses, procurement or logistics and tackle circularity within their institutions. The results of these interesting discussions are currently being evaluated by our team.

Marion Junique, Assistant Project Manager Sustainability at Johnson & Johnson did an excellent job at introducing DiCE at the main session of the conference which resulted in numerous conversations around DiCE and circular healthcare.

Have you missed our event in Malmö? Don’t worry, we are going live in collaboration with CE-RISE to delve into “Data Sharing for Circular Transition in Healthcare” on 29 October.
