As DiCE coordinators, we are always eager to share any tangible results and deliverables arising from the project. But equally, if not more important, we want to share insights about the fundamental elements that contribute to the strength and effectiveness of our consortium. To understand how we achieve our objectives, it is essential to explore the dynamics of partnership and collaboration that drive our mission towards circularity in the highly regulated healthcare industry.
Vision
At the heart of our consortium lies a shared vision. Every partner involved is here for a common goal: shaping a circular future for digital health devices. This collective commitment fosters an environment rich in collaboration and innovation. The passion exhibited by each partner is tangible and facilitates meaningful discussions, brainstorming sessions, and the overall momentum of our project.
This not only drives the project forward but was already showcased during the lengthy preparation of the proposal, where previous attempts to secure funding and a full blown Covid crisis posed serious barriers. Nevertheless, the team stuck together and managed to bring the proposal to life!
Effective communication
Building a strong consortium also relies heavily on effective communication and trust. We encourage open dialogue among partners, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. This transparency cultivates a sense of responsibility for the project goals and achievements. Regular meetings, workshops, and collaborative platforms are used to facilitate continued engagement and proactive challenge-solving. The mutual respect and understanding built through these interactions form the foundation of our consortium’s success.
Diversity
The diversity of expertise and profiles within our consortium is one of our greatest strengths. Each organisation brings unique skills, perspectives, and resources that enhance our collective capability. Comprising stakeholders from across the entire value chain of digital health devices, we collaborate to address complex challenges and innovate solutions that would be difficult to achieve independently.
Collaboration
Another enriching aspect of DiCE is witnessing how different generations within our partners collaborate to drive change. Through our project, numerous master’s and doctoral theses are being developed, directly connecting the academic world to practical challenges of industry. Similarly, we observe a vibrant two-way exchange between young talent and experienced professionals that fosters innovative solutions.
Fresh ideas from the younger generation fuel the expertise of established leaders, while the insights of seasoned professionals provide valuable guidance to newcomers. This collaboration cultivates a new generation of leaders eager to make a significant impact.
Innovation
Innovation, a natural outcome of collaboration, is a cornerstone of DiCE. We foster a culture where new ideas are welcomed and explored, understanding that some of the best solutions arise from thinking outside the box.
We recognise the importance of continuous improvement. Regularly reflecting on our processes and outcomes allows us to adapt and refine our strategies. We learn from both successes and setbacks, fostering resilience and an unwavering commitment to our objectives. This iterative approach ensures that we remain agile and responsive to the evolving landscape of circular digital health.
Together we are “DiCE”

In conclusion, building a strong consortium for DiCE is a rewarding experience. By focusing on our shared vision, enhancing communication and trust, leveraging diverse expertise, promoting generational collaboration, encouraging innovation, and committing to continuous improvement, we are well-equipped to tackle the challenges ahead.
We are continually inspired by the dedication and passion of our partners, and we are excited to see where this journey towards circularity will take us all. Together, we are not just participants in a project; we are pioneers shaping the future of circular digital health devices.
